Here for unpaid carers of all ages

Are you a carer?

A carer is anyone who cares, unpaid, for a friend or family member who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction, cannot cope without their support.

How we can help:

At Carer Support West Cumbria, we have been supporting people who care for 30 years. We provide services to carers from the age of 5 upwards, in the former districts of Allerdale and Copeland in Cumberland.

Changes to our service:

In 2025, Cumberland Council's Carer Support Service transferred to our partner organisation, People First.

With many of the same skilled support workers, the new service, known as Cumberland Carers, is fully up and running and provides support to unpaid adult carers across Cumberland. You can find out more about the service by clicking here

Stronger together: our new partnership with People First

Following changes in the way carer support is provided in Cumberland, we are delighted to announce that we've established a new partnership with fellow local charity, People First. Due to a strong, shared commitment to the helping carers across Cumberland, our two long-established charities will begin working together with immediate effect.

The partnership will ensure that Carer Support West Cumbria will continue to provide excellent support whilst we develop and grow our offer.

You can find out more about the partnership here.

Thank you to our supporters and funders:
