Support our runners this Sunday

The London Marathon is taking place this weekend and this year runners will have the freedom to take on 26.2 miles in their own way, on the route of their choice, at any time on Sunday 2 October.

Two amazing people have chosen to take part in the virtual event to raise funds for Carer Support West Cumbria.

Introducing Sara Morris...

Sara's route will cover Egremont to Lillyhall, if you see her on her travels be sure to give her a shout of encouragement! She will be boosting her fundraising efforts with a stall at Egremont Market Hall on the following days:

  • 30th October

  • 20th November

  • 11th December (Christmas special)

If you are in the Egremont area it would be great if you can pop down and support her fantastic efforts to raise fund for unpaid carers. You can make a donation online to support Sara at https://virtualtcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/sara-morris-thankyouforyourhelp-a0d3d

Sara explains below why she has chosen to support us.

My name is Sara and like many others I am an unpaid carer. My journey started nearly 10 years ago, Carer Support West Cumbria have given me help and support with my late dad, my mum and my 2 daughters. I am sure, like me, many other carers will appreciate all the things Carer Support West Cumbria do. Doing the Virtual TCS London Marathon 2022 is me giving a little back for everything that has been done for me, and all other adult and young carers. Thank you again for reading. If you can help with a donation, it would be very much appreciated and it will help Carer Support West Cumbria give more to help to adult and young carers.

Mike told us below why he chose to support unpaid carers.

I am raising funds for Carer Support West Cumbria as they provide invaluable support to young and not so young carers in our community. It is important to me and my family to now support a local charity; having supported national and regional ones for other reasons and a family tragedy last year. This latter event highlighted the importance of mental health and ensuring we all help one another, especially in these challenging times. Simply talking can help mental health significantly and linking this message with seeking support when caring for others is so critical whether for mental or physical health. Carer Support West Cumbria can make a difference, help me support them.
